Hermann Seifried pioneered grape growing in Nelson on New Zealand’s South
Island back in the 1970s, soon after arriving from Austria, via Germany and
South Africa. The estate’s winemakers today are his son Chris and daughter
Heidi. Having grown up on the
property, Heidi just can’t stay out of
the winery – despite being a dentist
by day. Frankly, we hope she never
gives up the night job because her
inaugural Pinot Noir is seriously
delicious.Named after a nearby
landmark, Split Apple Rock in the
Abel Tasman National Park, the wine
has ripe berry, plum and chocolate
character with a smooth, supple,
understated brilliance. Take your time
over this wine. Serve in large bowled
glasses with duck breast or grilled
New Zealand lamb chops
