The centuries old Mellot estate is known for its fine Sancerres, but its Val de Loire range offers the best value. This is a wonderfully refreshing Pinot Noir rosé, a very pretty pink with vibrant summer berry fruit and brilliant lemony freshness.
Pinot Noir, famous for the reds of Burgundy, is equally at home in the Loire, where it makes delicate reds and wonderfully crisp, fragrant rosés. Few can boast a longer heritage in the region than Catherine Corbeau Mellot, wife of the late Alexandre Mellot and head of the Joseph Mellot estate. The family have been growing vines in Sancerre since 1513 , in fact, César Mellot was Wine Advisor to Louis XIV. Catherine's two sons, Adrien and Armand, are waiting in the wings to continue the family tradition. The grapes for the Réserve Prestige Pinot Noir are picked early, so they have great freshness. Enjoy intense berry fruit with nervy crispness and great finesse. Irresistible solo, with fish, seafood, chicken or a vegetable terrine.
