Saint Emilion is a beautiful medieval town, with quaint cobbled streets, on the Right Bank of the Dordogne river, and gives its name to the many vineyards that surround it. Lying on the northwestern edge of the region, Château Fonroque was for a time run by Jean-Pierre Mouiex, whose Midas touch was credited with reviving the fortunes of the Right Bank and bringing it out of the shadow of the Médoc.
