Winners of the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy, the Scarpantoni brothers make first class wine in premium McLaren. Crisp citrus and nectarine fruit 'so light on its feet, it seems to be dancing' wrote the Wall Street Journal of a previous vintage.
Arriving in Australia from Italy in 1952 as part of Australia'spost-war immigration programme, the founding father of the business, Domenico Scarpantoni, bought his first property in 1958, turning the 5.6 hectare plot into a profitable vineyard. For many years he supplied grapes to the winemaking giant Hardys. Then, in 1979, with the help of his sons Michael and Fil, Dom built his own winery. A graduate of Roseworthy College, Dom'sdaughter Mirella is now the winemaker and, with her brothers, runs the business. Their wines enjoy almost cult status in Australia and have accumulated over 300 medals in National Wine Shows. Lively and refreshing with zesty citrus and peach notes, this wine is spot on with grilled white fish or chicken dishes.
