Doft & Smak
Argentina has won many fans for its seductively elegant Malbecs, which now set the quality benchmark worldwide. Yet the country has many strings to its bow, including an array of delicious white wines, like this crisp, dazzling Sauvignon Blanc.
San Lucas Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Pascual Toso winery, which won the Trophy for ,Best Argentine Producer, at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2007. When Pascual Toso arrived in Argentina from Europe in the 1880s, he could not have imagined the amazing wine legacy he would soon create. But within two decades he was a dominant force on the local wine scene and owner of two prestigious wineries. In charge of winemaking today is Rolando Luppino, who has crafted this superb Sauvignon in an unmistakably New World style. It displays expressive gooseberry and citrus aromas and ripe, mouthwatering flavours reminiscent of melon and pink grapefruit. Enjoy on its own, with grilled fish or with a mildly spicy Asian stir-fry.
