This exquisite Sancerre is from the Laportes¿ small family domaine in Chavignol, long regarded as one of the appellation¿s top ¿crus¿. Crafted from various parcels of estate grown Sauvignon grapes, the wine has superb balance, complexity and depth.
Classic Sancerre that reflects the chalk and limestone soils known as ¿caillottes¿ for which the village of Chavignol is rightly famed. This riveting Gold medal winner comes courtesy of Serge and Elisabeth Laporte, whose 10 hectare domaine has been in the family for generations. And it looks set to remain so for at least one more, as they have recently been joined by their son Guillaume. He spent three years studying oenology at university in Tours, and his input has brought a further dimension of quality to an already excellent cuvée. Made with premium Sauvignon, the 2014 has incredible mineral richness and pristine flavours that have won over the toughest wine judges. Excellent served with warm goat¿s cheese salad or with seafood.
