Rosé wines are enjoying a well deserved renaissance right now but in one sunny corner of Frankrike they have always been top of the list. With its slender bottle and delicate salmon pink hue, this classic Provençal pink is the epitome of refinement.
A popular tourist destination, Provence has an ideal climate for rosé wines, with plentiful sunshine (about twice that of London) yet relatively moderate temperatures even in the height of summer. This new addition to our range is from Château Fontaine, a beautiful estate situated between Aix en Provence and Saint Tropez, and comprising forests, olive groves and vineyards. Winemaker Alain Proux selected the classic local varieties, Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, harvesting during the night and cool fermenting the grapes to ensure a lovely freshness in the wine. Rounded, mouthfilling and deliciously fruity, Château Fontaine is lovely on its own and spot on with poached salmon, grilled white fish, pepper and salt squid, or crab risotto.
