Willow Bridge G1-10 Chardonnay 2014

South of Perth, before you reach Margaret River, lies Ferguson Valley with gentle hills at 230 to 280 metres elevation. From there you see Geographe Bay and the sea 25 km beyond. It was here that the Dewar family, in 1997, had the idea of planting a vineyard. Two degrees cooler than the coastal plains, with 360 degree sunshine and brisk afternoon breezes, it was a gift! Today the family have 60 hectares of vines growing Bordeaux¿s red and white grapes, plus a few mavericks, each on separate plots. A small batch, hands-on winery was completed in time for the first vintage in 2000. Rich fruit, toasty spice from ageing in French oak, this is a Grand Cru style of wine. And G1-10? Genesis 1-10 pays reverence to the fine land. Only gently chill.
