Jancis Robinson MW describes Chenin Blanc as a 'magical chameleon of a grape' appearing in a host of styles from dry to sweet and even sparkling. Trésor is a still, off-dry classic from Vouvray, with luscious fruit and a mouthwatering finish.
Vouvray is prime terroir for the Chenin Blanc grape and in Trésors de Loire you find a wine with an abundance of textbook character and, above all, a beautiful balance of off-dry fruitiness, racy acidity and elegance. 2014 is, after all, the best vintage for years. Winemaker Raphaël Boileau trained in Sancerre and works at the century old Joseph Verdier winery in Montreuil Bellay, where he has an enviable reputation for excellence. This is the heart of the Loire Valley ' languid rivers lined with vineyards meander past glorious, fairytale châteaux and pretty villages built of limestone. Flavours of quince, apricot and citrus with minerally freshness make this classic Trésors de Loire a great match for pork or a creamy chicken casserole.
