White wines don't get much more cutting edge than this! Pure Sauvignon Blanc, crafted by an award winning Californian winemaker from grapes grown near the Hindu holy city of Nashik. Surprisingly crisp, with aromas of freshly cut grass.
Situated 180 km from Mumbai, Nashik is India'slargest grape growing region. Until recently all the fruit was table grapes and not used for wine. Then a Stanford trained engineer, Rajeev Samant, investigated and that was the start of Sula Vineyards, one of India's most successful wineries. He persuaded Californian winemaker Kerry Damskey to join him and in 1997 Sula was launched. For the first time in India they planted Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin, and the wines received wide acclaim. Red grapes have now been added to the range. The region has a climate comparable to parts of Spanien, California and Australia and, with high-tech facilities, great wines are made. Crisp and fruity, this Sauvignon is best served chilled solo or with spicy dishes.
