San Blas Ribolla Gialla Di Rosazzo 2011

This is a terrific new release from Friuli, one of the most exciting white wine areas of Italy ' a gloriously rich and intense pure fruit white with a subtle touch of oak. And it's from a winemaker ' Paolo Valle ' whose vineyards lie right next door to the Felluga estate which has been key in defining the quality of fine Italian whites. Ribolla Gialla is one of its top white grapes ' a native of the area and grown little outside its boundaries. Close to the fine vineyard slopes of Slovenia, this high altitude, mountainous area is ideal for well defined, elegant whites. Paolo selected the ripest grapes from his magnificent di Rosazzo vineyard. Intense orchard fruit gently oaked with mineral freshness, this wine is great with white meats.
