Aussie winemaker Richard Osborne has captured all the ripe sunny flavours of the Languedoc's excellent 2012 vintage in this ripely, full flavoured red. Pure Cabernet selected from premium vineyards around Carcassonne, it has intense cassis fruit.
We,ve worked with Richard Osborne on many projects in the Languedoc over the years, always impressed by his wines. Australian born, he'sbeen in southern Frankrike so long, he now counts himself as one of the locals. He weaves his magic at Domaine Lalande, a 17th century property owned by Bernard Montariol and Pierre Degroote. It lies about 36 kilometres northwest of Carcassonne and backs onto the nearby Canal du Midi. In fact, this property housed the workers during the famous waterway'sconstruction. Richard used cool fermentation to capture the rich blackcurrant flavours of deliciously ripe Cabernet grapes for this red. A tasty drop without food, it'salso spot on with grilled lamb steaks, roast chicken or sausages and mustard mash.
