The Pardons' Fleurie has a great award winning track record so it's no surprise this 2014 has been so well received. Coming from old vines adds intensity and vibrancy that sets it apart. Immensely food friendly, it's a dinner party classic.
Fleurie has a huge following in the UK, and this old vine classic is one of the best we've tried in ages. Fleurie is the royalty of the Beaujolais region, producing lovely, fresh, strawberry and cherry scented reds with wonderful intensity of flavour. The village is situated between Moulin à Vent and Chiroubles, and its vineyards lie on east facing slopes of the hill of Fleurie. The soils are the classic pink granite of the region, believed to be in part responsible for the fine aromatic qualities of local pure Gamay wines. This superb 2014 vintage Fleurie from the seventh generation Domaine Pardon is a great match for slow roasted pork belly, ham and pâtés. Served cellar cool (about 14ºC), it's a very pleasant drop to drink on its own too.
