Morey Saint Denis boasts four Grands Crus within its boundaries, yet is the least known appellation of the Côte de Nuits. We like that because it means Morey's wines are relatively modest in price. This delicious 2012 shows all the class of a very good vintage and a top producer ' superb depth of firm red fruits and truffle notes wrapped in a cloak of tannins. It comes from a renowned family estate ' Georges Lignier's grandfather, also Georges, was a notable Morey figure. Today the property is run by his nephew Benoît Stehly and has 15 hectares scattered over some of the most acclaimed sites of the region. With bright strawberry and violet notes, the wine will develop complexity with age. A superb match with roast duck or boeuf bourguignon.
