This rich, yet elegant wine is a must for lovers of BIG reds. Ancient bush vines, planted high up in the desert-like plains of Jumilla, produce incredibly concentrated fruit ' complemented in this velvet textured beauty by notes of sweet spicy oak.
Tim Atkin MW wrote: ,Jumilla gets my vote as the most underrated wine region in Europe. This large region has some of the oldest and most concentrated Monastrell in Spanien, producing full bodied reds that are just as good as most Bandols, and sell at half the price, (The Observer). This great value red is from a winery that lies on the Silk Road (Camino de Seda), which brought wealth and splendour to the region over 500 years ago. Indeed, the vineyards are still surrounded by white mulberry trees , the silkworms, favourite dwelling. Crafted by Scottish born winemaker Pamela Geddes, the wine is packed with intense black fruit flavours, complemented by notes of sweet vanilla and spice. Enjoy solo or with pork loin, venison and hearty stews.
