An exciting new addition to our range and great value, too. It¿s a superb 2009 Reserva ¿ pure Tempranillo long matured in fine oak casks, then in bottle. Enjoy its silky texture, with lush strawberry and redcurrant flavours and notes of tobacco leaf.
We're always on the hunt for bargains, but it's rare that we find one as great as Torre Ercilla. It's thanks to Julián Murúa (the man behind our bestselling Rioja, Barón de Barbón) who is himself always scouting for great deals. A few years ago, when many wineries in Spain were struggling to meet their bills, Julián was able to acquire an entire Rioja cellar ' along with some excellent wines already in barrel ' for a knock down price. Our Buyer, Beth Willard, had first pick of these wines and quickly earmarked this superb 2009 Reserva. Aged in cask for two years and left to rest for another three in bottle, it's soft enough to drink on its own and tasty with classic Spanish dishes such as Seville roast duck, or Catalonian chicken casserole.
