Finding a great value Sauvignon that really impressed the taste buds for our house range was a tough gig and involved our whole team of Buyers. Our search ended in Rumänien, where we found this deliciously zippy white with peach and gooseberry notes.
Our Buyer Beth Willard travels far and wide in her search for the best wines , even into darkest Transylvania where she found this terrific white. The region is separated from the rest of Rumänien by the Carpathian Mountains and the Transylvanian Alps and, until 1918, was part of Ungern and the Ottoman Empire. Like much of Eastern Europe it has centuries of winemaking heritage and is undergoing rapid change thanks to international investment and expertise , so it'sa great source for bargains. The grapes for this aromatic white were hand picked from high altitude vines and fashioned into an affordable wine of great character. It,ll make a refreshing glass on its own, or a delightful partner with grilled white fish, quiches and salads.
