The Bujandas are one of the most respected winemaking families in Rioja and, thanks to our long friendship with them, they let us have this exclusive white. Made from Viura, the top white grape of this appellation, it is citrusy and super fresh.
Martínez Bujanda are among the top producers in Rioja. The family business, founded late in the 19th century, was transformed in the mid 1980s when the Bujanda brothers built an ultra modern facility that is still one of the finest in Europe. We have long been championing their superb Riojas and were delighted when they offered us this great value wine made from Viura (the white grape of Rioja) from their La Tejera vineyard. Its soils are rich in the red clay that is used locally for making brick , hence the name Teja Roja or ,Red Tile,. The site also has an ideal south facing aspect, resulting in fruity, well balanced wines. Lemon fruit with a refreshing zip, Teja Roja is perfect to whet the appetite or with tapas and all kinds of seafood.
