California¿s ¿original Zin¿ is a dark, brooding red of immense power. These days it also appears as a pink and even a white wine. If you¿re a rosé fan and fond of fruity, off dry New World wines, Petticoat will will hit all the right notes.
Petticoat is loved for its easy to drink, fruit fresh style (think fresh cut watermelon and strawberries). Its flavours stand out even more because the grapes were left hanging that bit longer for a wonderful hint of sweetness. Zinfandel is California's most widely planted red grape and makes anything from everyday drinking to powerful, long lived wines, in colours red, white or rosé. The quicker the skins of the crushed grapes are separated from the juice, the lighter the pink hue. Petticoat is a colour the Americans often call 'blush' (a reaction the label has been known to incur). Skin contact was just long enough to take in all the fruitiness of the grape while avoiding any hint of tannin. Recommended with grilled prawns or stir-fries.
