Rioja has been making wine for 2,000 years and was the first region of Spain to be granted DOC status ' a sure sign of its quality and importance. Bodegas Luis Cañas is located in Villabuena in the heart of Rioja's premium Alavesa district. Their wines are so good, five of Spain's seven 3-Star Michelin restaurants feature them on their menus. The family have been dedicated to wine and viticulture for the last two centuries and a cellar was established in 1928. Then, in 1970, Luis Cañas began bottling the estate's wines under his own name, and nowadays Luis Cañas is one of Rioja Alavesa's best known wineries.Using intensely flavoured grapes from 30-year-old vines and ageing in French and American oak casks, this wine is perfect with lamb.
