Once made in a shed in Bordeaux (hence Garage), this ripe fruit Chardonnay Viognier is now made at the magnificent Le Chai. Taking top quality fruit from Carcassonne, Southern France, Mark Hoddy has crafted a luscious peach and blossom scented white.
Le Chai's Mark Hoddy isn't afraid of breaking the rules in order to produce the exceptional. From years working in Southern France, he knows exactly where to find the best grapes. For this white, it was high altitude sites close to Carcassonne, so the fruit has real depth, ripeness and freshness. He picked out Chardonnay and Viognier and took the juice up to Le Chai in Bordeaux's Castillon to give it the love and attention he knew the wine deserved. The result is Garage white, named after the trend of making handcrafted vats in tiny quantities in garage sized sheds. Part fermented in oak, the wine is bold yet beautifully balanced with masses of fresh, spicy fruit and a creamy texture. Serve with fragrant Thai curries, chicken or noodles.
