Bernard Dampt came from a long line of growers, and in 1980 he invested his life savings in buying an estate for his three sons ' Eric, Emmanuel and Hervé. Together they now run the family property, making fine Chablis at all levels. This is an exemplary Premier Cru and an excellent buy. Fourchaume, lying adjacent to the Grand Cru Les Preuses, is one of the best Premiers Crus, producing a superb classic with mineral, hay and steely citrus qualities.
