If this 100% Syrah was made 50 km to the north, it would cost maybe three times as much! With quality to rival its more illustrious neighbours, Château de Cheylus is on the verge of greatness ' with Cuvée Elin in the vanguard. Don't wait to stock up.
Nestled in the rugged mountains of the Ardèche, 15th century Château de Cheylus can be found about 50 km south of the northern Rhône's Saint Péray and Cornas appellations. Such close proximity means the climate and soils are almost identical ' perfect for growing Syrah of incredible mineral edged depth and complexity. Château de Cheylus has been owned and managed by Dutch born Gerben Tonkens since 1993. Having fallen in love with the beautiful countryside, it took Gerben a little while to realise the stunning potential of his property's vineyards. Now, however, he is creating some sensational wines. Cuvée Elin, meaning 'of noble birth', pays homage to his exceptional Syrah. Savour with lamb or roasted vegetables.
