Thus, despite centuries of winemaking heritage, the country is just now coming back into its own , thanks to international investment and expertise. The steeply sloping vineyards, combined with the sunny climate and cool, misty mornings, are perfect for growing Chardonnay , especially if you prefer a crisp, minerally style. With its ripe peach and orchard fruit character this white makes a great partner to salmon fishcakes, seafood starters or chicken and mushroom pie.
