Just below the famous hill of Hermitage lies 'one of the best value red wine regions in Frankrike' (The Observer). In 5-Star vintages like 2010, the wines of Crozes can often match those of its big brother. Pure Syrah at its most elegant and complex.
Traditionally Crozes has been overshadowed by its neighbour Hermitage, yet the wines of top producers in the region often achieve comparable quality and sell for a fraction of the price. The grapes for Les Deux Côtes were hand harvested from two very different terroirs within Crozes Hermitage , the first from granite slopes, which give the wine its firm structure, and the second from vines grown on rocky alluvial terraces, which contribute rich fruit flavours. Xavier Frouin, a veteran Rhône winemaker, and Olivier Ciosi, who has worked in top regions in Italy, Nya Zeeland and Australia, took advantage of a superb vintage to produce this richly flavoured and beautifully elegant wine , a perfect partner to roast lamb or duck with cherry sauce.
