Charles Brotte created his non-vintage Châteauneuf in 1954 and it has been hugely popular ever since. Crafted from rare reserves of the best vintages and matured in large oak casks, this luxurious special edition is wonderfully mellow and complex.
Maison Brotte, an independent family business now in its third generation, has always been at the forefront of innovation. The founder, Charles Brotte, was one of the first to begin estate bottling in Châteauneuf du Pape and, in 1954, released his famous non-vintage cuvée La Fiole. The estate has always enjoyed a reputation for reliable quality and, under the guidance of Charles' grandson Laurent, 'has improved dramatically' (Robert Parker).Assisted by renowned consultant Philippe Cambie, Laurent Brotte has produced a truly memorable Special Reserve from some of the finest recent vintages. Though delicious now it will continue to develop complexity over the next couple of years. A lovely partner to beef stew, game pie or roast pheasant.
