When our old friend and Aussie wine legend 'Big Mac' McPherson decided to commemorate the life of his dear old mum, who lived to 103, we knew to expect something out of this world, and the magnificent Doreen's Blend does not disappoint. The quality is on a par with some big name Aussie reds at two or three times the price. Sourcing hand harvested grapes from old vines in some of the best corners of Victoria got things off to a great start. Then Andrew's inherent winemaking skills and six months' oak ageing ensured beautiful integration of the wine's cassis, blackberry and spice characters. Shiraz Cabernet is the quintessential Aussie blend and you'll find this one goes superbly with a McPherson family favourite ' tender, slow cooked mutton.
